Dental X-rays

Dental X Rays

OPG

An OPG (Orthopantomogram) X-ray, also known as a panoramic dental X-ray, is a crucial dental imaging technique offering a panoramic view of the entire oral cavity. This comprehensive view allows for early detection of dental issues like cavities, gum disease, impacted teeth, and cysts, facilitating timely intervention and treatment planning. OPG X-rays aid in assessing jaw and bone health, making them essential for diagnosing conditions like TMJ disorder and evaluating wisdom teeth development. With minimal radiation exposure and patient comfort, OPG X-rays enhance dental care by improving diagnostics and treatment outcomes.

Lateral Cephalogram

A lateral cephalogram is a specialized dental X-ray that captures a side view of a patient’s head and neck. This imaging technique is commonly used in orthodontics and maxillofacial surgery to assess the facial and skeletal structures, including the jaw, teeth, and surrounding tissues. Lateral cephalograms help orthodontists and dental professionals in treatment planning, diagnosing facial asymmetry, and determining the best course of action for bite correction.

Temporal Mandibular Joint

A Panoramic TMJ scan is a diagnostic imaging technique used to assess the temporomandibular joints (TMJs) and surrounding structures in dentistry. This specialized X-ray provides a comprehensive, two-dimensional view of the entire oral and maxillofacial region, including the TMJs, upper and lower jaws, teeth, and sinuses. Dentists and oral healthcare professionals use Panoramic TMJ X-rays for diagnosing TMJ disorders, bite problems, and other conditions affecting the jaw and facial structures.

How do I prepare for an OPG/Lat Cephalogram/TMJ scan?

It is best to remove any jewelry located around the facial region before coming to your appointment.
