Computed Tomography (CT), also known as CT scanning or CAT scanning, is an advanced medical imaging technique. It uses X-rays and computer processing to create detailed cross-sectional images of the body. CT scans are highly versatile and provide precise visualizations of internal structures, making them invaluable for diagnosing various medical conditions, such as injuries, tumors, and infections. CT imaging aids healthcare professionals in treatment planning, surgical guidance, and monitoring disease progression. It offers a non-invasive way to gather critical diagnostic information, ensuring accurate and timely healthcare decisions for patients.
A qualified Radiographer who has undergone additional CT training.
A CT scan with iodine contrast, also known as contrast-enhanced CT, is a medical imaging procedure that involves the use of a contrast material containing iodine. This contrast material is injected into a vein to enhance the visibility of blood vessels, organs, and tissues during the CT scan. The iodine contrast helps healthcare professionals obtain clearer and more detailed images, making it easier to diagnose and evaluate various medical conditions. This type of CT scan is particularly useful for assessing vascular issues, tumors, inflammation, and other conditions that may not be as visible on standard CT scans. It aids in providing accurate diagnoses and treatment planning for a wide range of medical concerns.

Many CT scans such as (but not limited to) Brain, Sinus, Spines, hands and feet do not require a booking.
Some more complex CT scans such as Angiograms and multi-phase abdominal scans may require an appointment for you to receive the correct instructions before your scan.
Most CT take less than 5 minutes from the minute you enter the room while some can take up to 15-20 minutes if they involve a contrast injection. Some abdominal CT scans may require you to drink water or oral contrast for up to 1 hour prior to the scan.
There are no common side effects associated with regular CT scans. You will be able to eat, drink and carry on as per normal after your scan. If there are any possible side effects our staff will inform you prior to your scan.
Similar to X-ray, CT scans expose the patient to radiation. The radiation exposure during a CT scan is in most cases is higher than that of X-rays. Precise Radiology uses the latest Philips Incisive CT scanner which has doses that are lower than the national average.
Like X-ray, the benefits of a CT scan outweigh the risk of radiation exposure.
Your results will be faxed or electronically sent to the referring practitioner.
X-ray imaging is perhaps the most commonly known form of diagnostic testing. Similar to visible light, x-rays use electromagnetic radiation, which contain wave-like forms of energy.
At Precise Radiology, we offer a range of radiologic procedures including X-rays, CT scans, ultrasound, and bone density scans.
Tests are performed by skilled technologists using advanced imaging technology tailored to each procedure.
Preparation instructions will be provided based on the specific test you're undergoing.
